Animated Film Show (Trickfilm-Show) – Films, Making-of & Inspirational Keynotes

Discover my unique Animated Film Show – a captivating mix of award-winning animated short films, exclusive behind-the-scenes insights and entertaining stories from my life as an Oscar®-winning animation director.

I present my short animation films (1–11 minutes) live on stage, using photos and clips to show the making-of. For each film, I give a 3–10 minute explanation of the techniques—2D hand-drawn, stop-motion, pixilation, computer animation, and experimental ink-animation.

Depending on the occasion, the show can also be extended with a short creative lecture on teamwork or creativity – an inspiring way to compare artistic processes with creative practices in professional life.

After the screenings, I encourage open dialogue, answer questions, and discuss visual language, themes, and creative backgrounds with the audience.

The Animated Film Show is an infotainment format for audiences aged 11 and up – ideal for schools, cultural events, festivals, workshops, and corporate functions.

Depending on the time frame, I show individual short films or thematic film blocks.

My films are non-verbal, rich in visual metaphors, and explore philosophical, social and environmental issues. They are aimed at people who enjoy artistic imagery and emotional storytelling.

Depending on the occasion, the films can be combined with a making-of presentation, an inspirational keynote, or a moderated interview.

The overall duration of the show increases by about 5-10 minutes of audience discussion per film.

Optional Inspirational Keynotes – Creativity & Teamwork

The Animated Film Show can be expanded with an inspirational keynote – engaging, authentic, and entertaining.

These short keynote talks fit perfectly before a film screening and connect artistic inspiration with teamwork, creativity, and motivation in everyday professional contexts.

Each keynote adds approximately 10 minutes to the show.

Inspirational Keynote: Creativity & Inventiveness

How do ideas for artistic films emerge?

I talk about what defines creativity, what it is good for, and how it develops – through curiosity, courage, and openness.

The keynote illustrates how creative mindsets emerge in art, education, and professional life – and how they can lead to new ideas and solutions.

It’s about openness, the courage to embrace the unexpected, and dealing with uncertainty – principles that are essential in every area of life and work.

Using my award-winning stop-motion film QUEST, I demonstrate how a small student exercise in animation became an Oscar®-winning story.

I describe how I found inspiration through social, political, and personal influences – and how, despite numerous failed or unsatisfying results, I kept finding the motivation to continue: with curiosity, patience, and persistence.

An inspiring talk for everyone interested in understanding how creativity works – and how to encourage it in their own professional environment.

Inspirational Keynote: Teamwork & Motivation

What does it take for teamwork to succeed?

This keynote shows that effective collaboration does not come from agreement alone, but from trust, communication and shared purpose – and how motivation grows through common goals and mutual appreciation.

Using my film Virtuoso Virtual, I explain how the collaboration between visual artist Maja Oschmann, whose ink drawings embrace coincidence, and myself as an animation director – thinking in terms of film dramaturgy, emotion and character – resulted in a multi-award-winning work.

The talk highlights how mutual respect and shared vision can drive creative processes – offering inspiring parallels to teamwork in companies, projects and schools.

A keynote that fosters motivation, cohesion and enthusiasm.

Both keynotes are about 10 minutes long and combine entertainment, inspiration and practical insight – presented with film examples, making-of material, and personal stories.
