Medland GmbH & Co. KG from Taunusstein showed how it’s done: with a creative business event in Kassel – including a hands-on animation workshop, an exclusive infotainment, and a surprise guest with an Oscar^© in his bag.

To mark its 20th anniversary, Medland invited its employees from all over Germany to a unique weekend experience in Kassel. At the center of the program: an zoetrope animation workshop, led by me in the inspiring venue of Neue Denkerei Kassel – complemented by selected highlights from my Trickfilm-Show, including my Oscar^©-winning stop-motion film QUEST.

Managing Director Dipl.-Kfm. Klaus Michallik saw my work for the first time in June 2023 at the International Festival of Animated Film in Wiesbaden. He was impressed by the mixture of infotainment, artistic short films and insights behind the scenes of the animated film world. He spontaneously decided to hire me for his company’s anniversary weekend.

We deliberately chose Kassel as the venue – not only because of its ideal location, but also because I suggested a suitable location for the workshop and was also able to give him tips for other activities.

During my animation workshop for companies, participants developed their own one-second loop animations on paper strips, brought to life with the help of a zoetrope. Themes ranged from leisure activities to business-related ideas – such as a character knitting a scarf bearing the Medland logo. The result: a collaborative creative experience that revealed hidden talents, strengthened team spirit, and inspired cross-departmental connection.

The workshop participants were inspired by the presentation of my animated short films. The biggest surprise was waiting at the end: that I was not only the workshop leader, but also the creator of the Oscar^©-winning film QUEST – and that I had brought the original Oscar^© statuette with me. The audience was thrilled – many guests had never seen a real Hollywood Oscar^© up close before.
